Ahr valley flood Effelsberg
An incredible flood catastrophy has hit our region and caused dramatic destruction. People suffered damage and loss of their homes and sadly lives were lost. Our thougths are with all people affected. The Effelsberg Observatory suffered comaratively minor damage, which we hope to be able to repair soon. https://lnkd.in/dJvQzeZ

Breakthrough: Event Horizon Telescope unveils first image of a Black Hole
On 10 April 2019 15:00 in Brussels, Carlos Moedas, the European Commissioner for Research, introduced a press conference announcing the image of the supermassive Black Hole in the galaxy M87. The event was live streamed and simultaneous press conferences were held in Santiago, Shanghai, Taipei, Tokyo, and Washington.
